Summer Peacebuilding Institute 2012
From the course announcement: Intended for people active in peacebuilding and related fields, SPI – the Summer Peacebuilding Institute – offers three 7-day sessions and one 5-day session, each with five courses running concurrently. Courses can be taken for professional skills training or master’s level academic credit. SPI offers courses that are useful and intellectually stimulating to anyone interested in learning more about peacebuilding and related fields. Participants are encouraged to reflect and to share from their own experiences in the “safe space” created by SPI. Minds and hearts are further opened with conversations outside class, laughter, volleyball, and group meals.
Canadian School of Peacebuilding 2012
From the Canadian School of Peacebuilding's website: The Canadian School of Peacebuilding (CSOP), an institute of Canadian Mennonite University, offers a selection of 5-day courses each June. Courses can be taken for professional or personal development or for academic credit. The CSOP is a learning community of diverse peacebuilders who come together to learn, network and engage in peacebuilding. This requires respect, curiosity and a broad range of connecting points for both students and faculty.
Professional Development: Four-Day Institute: Basic Restorative Practices
From the event announcement from the International Institute for Restorative Practices: IIRP professional development imparts practical knowledge and skills you can use immediately in your personal and professional life—whether you are involved in education, criminal justice, social services, counseling, leadership, the pastoral field, volunteer or other work.
Professional Development: Four-Day Institute: Restorative Leadership Development: Authority with Grace.
From the event announcement from the International Institute for Restorative Practices: Over four days participants will learn the principles of restorative leadership, an engaging, collaborative and effective way to exercise authority.
Certificate in Restorative Justice (delivered online)
From Simon Fraser University's website: An idea with deep roots in Aboriginal and many faith-based communities, restorative justice is enjoying a resurgence. While holding offenders responsible for repairing the damage they have done, it takes a community-minded approach to managing criminal and other conflict. The Certificate in Restorative Justice introduces you to the philosophy behind this powerful concept. Moving beyond theory, it also examines restorative practices such as mediation, conferencing, and circles, and how to use these methods in conflict situations and community development.
