Finding Community Alternatives in the Gambia
The Canadian International Development Agency recently awarded Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, a grant to launch a Community Policing and Restorative Justice Project in the African country the Gambia. Dr. Stephen Perrott, of the Department of Psychology, provides a description of the project and its goals.
Considering Restorative Interventions in Sentencing
New Zealand's Sentencing Act of 2002 incorporated restorative justice language in its sentencing provisions. Judges are now required to consider the results of a restorative process in sentencing decisions. Judge Stan A. Thorburn of the District Court in Auckland applies these provisions to a case of aggravated robbery.
Engaging Offenders In Victim Offender Mediation
In Washington State, community mediation programmes offer victim offender mediation (VOM) services. The different dynamics of working with crime victims and offenders offer unique challenges for these organizations. Eric Gilman, restorative justice coordinator for Clark County Juvenile Court, prepared the following document as a resource for facilitators in talking with offenders about VOM.

The Central City Neighborhood Partnerships (CCNP) is an association of community organizations in Minneapolis. In 1997, CCNP created a community-based restorative justice programme to address quality of life crimes . The programme’s mission is to heal, strengthen and empower the community.
