ICJR Award Announced
The PFI Centre for Justice and Reconciliation (PFICJR) is seeking nominations for the 2005 International Prize for Restorative Justice, to be awarded in August next year. This award recognizes significant advances in the implementation of restorative justice.
The focus of the award is on implementation of restorative justice, although conceptual, design, promotional or other work preceding or following implementation may be considered in making the award.
The significance of the advance may be demonstrated in terms of scale, innovation, or other ways of measuring societal impact.
The criterion of substantial responsibility acknowledges that most achievements in restorative justice will be the result of activity by many people. The recipient of the award should have played a uniquely significant role within the joint effort.
The first Prize was awarded to Howard Zehr in 2003. The second Prize will be presented in August 2005 in Hong Kong, during Prison Fellowship International's Council meetings. Nominees need not be affiliated with Prison Fellowship.
Nominations may be submitted between November 1, 2004 and March 31, 2005.
PFICJR is the criminal justice reform arm of Prison Fellowship International, an association of NGOs in 108 countries. One of PFICJR's projects is this website, Restorative Justice Online.
