This book consists of a collection of previously unpublished essays written to honor Tony Peters upon his retirement in 2001 from his long and influential career as a professor of criminology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Three main sections organize the essays.
- Part I contains papers on promoting victim policies
- Part II holds papers on reforming criminal justice
- Part III holds papers on developing restorative justice.
These represent three primary areas of Tony Peters’s interests and achievements. In his career, he participated in significant developments, in Belgium and other countries, in bringing attention to victims and victims’ issues, and in promoting restorative justice. Coming from a number of countries, the distinguished set of contributors includes academicians in criminology, law, and social work.
Biographical notes on the contributors can be found near the end of the book, as well as a select bibliography of Tony Peters’s writings since 1980. While most of the essays are in English, some are in French.
