UN Expert Meeting Convenes
Criminal justice experts from every region are meeting in Ottawa from 29 October to 1 November to discuss proposed Basic Principles on the Use of Restorative Justice Programmes in Criminal Matters. The purpose of the meeting will be to review comments by 37 countries on draft basic principles circulated by the Secretary-General in late 2000.
Two New Research Reports on Implementing Restorative
The Home Office Research, Development and Statistics Directorate released two studies in September on restorative justice. These were "An Exploratory Evaluation of Restorative Justice Schemes" and "An International Review of Restorative Justice". Each report provides insight into best practices in implementing restorative justice.

Prison Fellowship affiliates in several countries are operating unique programs that make dramatic changes in prison management. These changes are based on a methodology developed by the Brazilian Association for Protection and Assistance to the Convicted (APAC), the PF affiliate in Brazil.
Book Review: Dimensions of Forgiveness: Psychological Research and Theological Perspectives
This book contains the proceedings of a conference to explore the scientific study of forgiveness. The conference took place at Hope College and was conducted by the John Templeton Foundation.
