from the article in The Record.com:

The Alzheimer Society and Community Justice Initiatives were awarded federal funding for two seniors’ programs.

The Alzheimer Society of Kitchener Waterloo got more than $18,000 for their Memory Fit program, which is a community based recreational program for seniors in the early stage of dementia and their care partners for peer support and social interaction.

Community Justice Initiatives got about $24,600 for their Sharing project. Seniors act to help mediate family issues and conflicts involving seniors in care, and assist in restorative justice circles involving elder abuse.

The funding is part of the federal government’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, which gives funding to non-profit organizations for projects that help improve the quality of life for seniors and their communities through active living and participation in social activities.
